We are still raising funds for our new Media Technology (Computer Lab) Teacher. Soon the brand new, state-of-the-art lab will be opened, and we need a specialist, a tech teacher extraordinare for our kids.
This instructor is budgeted through our Direct Donation Drive.
SOPA's total budget is roughly $300,000 for all we provide for the kids at Sherman Oaks.
Divided by the number of kids, that equals only $500 per child for the whole year.
You just can't find a better deal than that.
Now, SOES is a public school, so such a donation is definitely not mandatory. One of the most wonderful things about our school is our diverstiy, both heritage-wise and socio-economically. All our kids reap the benefits of all amounts and forms of contributions families provide. Whether a family is comfortable donating $20 or several thousand dollars, we can all chip in a little to create a lot.

We realize a $500 check can be challenging for some of us.
Again, $100 or ANY amount is amazing.
Some like to break it up throughout the year -- $500 divided by 9 school months is
only $55 a month!
When just the cable bill is sometimes double that every month, one realizes there is not a better investment than your child's education.
And each donation can be deducted from your TAXES!!!
You either pay Uncle Sam, or use that same money to better your child!
People who work for companies often utilize their company's Matching Grants to double their contribution or volunteer hours -- just ask them!
Also consider volunteering for the wonderful fundraising events that bring the school money (see Halloween Festival, or Boogie Nights above!).
Get involved in writing grants and soliciting outside donations to even lessen the amount for parents!
Thank you for supporting and being involved in your child's education.
It is the best investment you'll make for them.
